I <3 my job!

Few people can say what I easily say everyday; "I LOVE my job!".

Long hours... lousy pay... no respect... continous contradictions, new rules, and controversies... it's a lot of things, but when you walk into the classroom and thirty kids are so happy to see you they scream your name and run to give you a waist-high hug, that's the beauty of it all. When a kindergartener goes from not knowing how to write his name to reading story books because of you, that's the joy of it all. What can I say? It has to be something in you, either you are a teacher or you are not.

I look forward to my kids. I miss them over the weekend. I spoil them rotten with edible playdough, fingerpainting, and computer games. I keep every picture they give me, no matter how mundaine or unrecognisable (I don't know what Picasso makes either!)

I get excited about a new unit we are planning on starting. The kids and I share insites to the newest movies and sing songs from "Dora the Explorer". They all know how much I love pirates. They thank me for homework. Their favorite books are the ones we made as a class. Some of the boys correct my terrible spanish. The girls always love it when I wear dresses.

When the greatest reward you can recieve is a sticker and the biggest problem you have is untied shoelaces, life is at it's purest. I don't belong anywhere else.
